All my iPod touch head phones don't work.?

So first I had the original pair of headphone. And those stopped working along time ago. So I took the headphones from my last iPod and used those for a few months. Then the left ear bud stopped working. So I bought some Gummy brand earbuds and I had them for about 4 months and then the left earbud stopped working, but I still used them and listened to the right one. But then all of the sudden the right one went out too. So I got the pair before than and listened to the right earbud for about 3 days and it just now went out while I was watching a video. Is there something wrong with my iPod??? How can I get my headphones to stop going out?? Cuz I hate paying 20 dollars for something that won't last more than 4 months.
