Is it hard to make it in the fashion world?

how hard is it to make it in the fashion industry? as in get a job there. nothing too big, i guess, but something nice. maybe for a newspaper like vogue. look at how easily andy got a job in the devil wears prada. is it that easy to work at vogue? what jobs does the fashion industry offer and how hard are they to get? in order to be someone big's istant, what education do you need?
