Is it ok to make fun of cavemen in Geico commercials just because they are extinct?

You know the commercials. Let's say for example that some other race of humans was to go extinct tomorrow (pick one at random). Would it then be ok to put people in TV commercials made up to look like them and make fun of them? What if it was YOUR race that went extinct. Would that be ok?
