Fixing up old drumset?

i have an old Pearl Maxwin 5 peice drumset that has been sittin on the screened in back porch for quite sometime now, Some of the metal has some rust on it but besides that it is a really nice kit and sounds excellent. I was wondering if anyone knows if i could clean the rust off or do i have to buy all new hardware for it?
