Is phil brown better then ancelotti and rafa?
Rafa gained promotion to La Liga with Extremadura (didn't keep them there) and Tenerife (left immediately after they gained promotion). Ancelotti did the same with Reggiana (but didn't stay on longer than the promotion campaign). Managerial turnover is much higher in Spain, and the same is true to a degree in Italy, so it's rare for up and coming coaches in those countries to gain promotion with a small club and then stay with that side, because opportunities are more frequently available for advancement than in England. So both have demonstrated that they can achieve promotion with what were relatively unfashionable teams, yet moved on to better things (except in Rafa's second season with Extremadura).
