Question on usefulness of older radar detectors...?

I recently stumbled across, in my garage, an older model Whistler detector, a Model 1540. I don't need the "cutting edge" technology in radar detection equipment, yet I wonder if this unit still provide a modi of protection...I know the 1540, e.g., has X, K, Ka and laser/VG2 capability but I know it's close to 10 yrs old. Should I feel comfortable using this older detector? Thnx
